Topic: My Grandparents

Mrs. Jo E. Alexander's 3rd and 4th graders in gifted class are working on an assignment for Grandparents' Day. They are learning how to make an "Important Book".  Their topic will be My Grandparents. They are describing their grandparents and how their grandparents make them feel. Then they will write a simile about their grandparents. They are using a Planning Sheet. 1. They must state what they are planning to do. 2. List the materials and equipment they will need to publish their "Important Book". They will list the steps in sequential order that they will need to take in order to publish their book.  The students will list any problems that might keep them from publishing the book. And finally, they will make any improvements to their plan in order to make their book even better. Mrs. Alexander taught the students how to make a book without using any staples, tape, or glue.  After completing a rough draft, they will then make their book and illustrate or draw pictures for each page.  Go to the website to see the photographs or click here:http://www.westhillselementaryschool.com/?PageName='TeacherPage'&Page='PhotoAlbum'&StaffID='10912'
