Rhonda Wesley was a classroom teacher for twenty-five years.  She began her career teaching third grade, and later taught first grade.  She joined the office of a Lead Reading Coach in 2003.  Currently, she is serving as the Alabama Reading Initiative Coach at Westhills Elementary.  She supports classroom teaching, and works collaboratively to implement a quality reading program.  Also, she assesses the reading strengths and needs of students and communicates these to classroom teachers, parents, and specialized personnel.

Mrs. Wesley was awarded Teacher of the Year for Westhills School for the 2000-2001 school-year, and recipient of the Outstanding Reading Teacher of the Year award in 2006.

She holds a Master's of Education Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Mrs. Wesley is married and the mother of two sons.
