Mrs. Ash was born and raised in Bessemer, AL before moving to Georgia. She arrived back in town in 1990 to attend Davis Middle School and  graduated from Jess Lanier High School in 1996. She graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (with honors) with a Bachelor's in Psychology and a minor in Biology.She participated in an Alternative Program to become a high school Science teacher.  She is also a graduate of The University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Master's degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. She enjoyed working with the high school kids, but she loves 1st grade! She has taught in the Bessemer City School System for 9 years, six of those in first grade.

Her hobbies include reading and writing (and a little exercise!). She hopes that each year she can evoke that same love for reading and writing onto her kids!
