Mrs. Fencher is a fifth grade teacher grade teacher who has worked at Westhills Elementary for the past twelve years. She has taught second and fifth grades since being in the Bessemer School System.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from St. Bernard College and her Masters of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University.
Prior to coming to the Bessemer School System, Mrs.Fencher taught in Frankfurt and Heidelberg, Germany and was employed by the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DODDS). She taught there for eight years and says that it was an enlighting experience to live in a different culture and learn a new language. Mrs. Fencher taught third and fifth grades while living abroad.
Mrs. Fencher is marrried to her husband Luke and is the mother of two wonderful sons Duan and Javen. She also has an adorable grandson named Lawrence.
Her activities and interests include member of Southside Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where she serves as Church Treasurer, Director of Children's Choir, Gospel Choir, Scholarship Committee,Sunday School Teacher and Missionary Society. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Her hobbies include shopping, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
