Black History Program

Westhills' Black History Program was performed Feb. 24 in the gym to a packed crowd.  The parents were welcomed.  Everyone said the Pledge of Allegiance.  Lift Every Voice and Sing, the National Negro Hymn was sung.  Grades K-6 sang Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, a slavery spiritual from the 1700-1800's.

Grades K-1 performed a blues song from the 1800-1930's called Sweet Home Chicago.

From the 1920-1930's era, the 1st and 2nd graders sang What a Wonderful World, a jazz song.

In the 1950's School Days, a rock and roll song was popular. It was performed by the 2nd and 3rd grade.

Motown hit, ABC from the 60's was performed by the 3rd and 4th grade.

 The pop tune, Thriller featuring Khalil Yow as Michael Jackson was performed by the 4th and 5th graders.

 A Hip Hop tune called It's the God in Me from  the era 1990-2010 was performed by the 5th and 6th grade classes.

A Praise Dance from performed by the 5th graders.

 The Kindergarteners- 6th Graders performed the song, We Are The World as a tribute to Michael Jackson.

Closing remarks were made by Ms. Mildred Posey, principal of Westhills Elementary School.
